Fishing Venice, La.

This past week once again was about as good of weather as you could ask for. Sunday was a little rainy and windy but not that bad. A lot of fish were caught this past week, mostly Tuna, but that is usually what we target this time of the year. Along with the Tuna there were a few Mahi Mahi, Mangrove Snapper, a 104lb. Warsaw Grouper—caught by the Calvert crew from Ca.—congrats. And for the crews that mixed it up with inshore caught quite a few Redfish as well. The Bruno crew that fished on Sat. July 12th hammered the Tuna catching 8 studs. So, as you will see from the pics., the Tuna are definitely here right now, the best part is it will only get better from now-October. Of course some days will be better than others, but you’ve always got a chance for some YFT. The Mangrove snapper this year could not be thicker. Limits are caught most days but then there are some days it is a struggle depending on timing and currents. Starting Aug. 1 we can add Amberjack to the box again so that will make quite a few fisherman happy. The cobia have been here since May but August is a much better month than the previous three if your looking for cobia. We still have open days in July and August and the fishing should be excellent. For those of you who want to mix in some inshore fishing that should be very good as well.
