big enough boat?

im taking my father on a fishing trip in September to grand isle. I was wondering if an 1860 g3 center console with a 70hp Yamaha is enough boat to run around the marshes and try and catch a few fish and if anyone has any tips on when/where/what to use. we usually just fish from the surf or elmers isle but want to use a boat this time. all advice would be greatly appreciated.

...I had one and is great on the inside,if 'ya get more than 2 1/2 rollers or swells you will be slapped around...stay on the inside small lakes...cheers

That boat would be perfect for the marsh. just watch the tide and becarful not to get stuck in shallow areas when the tide drops out. Its more dangerous during winter months with a north wind blowing but you will be ok. have fun.

so on a calm day would I be able to run out to the close rigs or would that be a bad idea in such a small boat?

On a calm day u can go anywhere with your flatboat. Ive seem some out there 7-miles south of empire when we are snapper fishing. Would I do it in your boat? probably not.
