No teal in southeast louisiana

Reply

Haven't seen any teal thus far in southeast louisiana from bayou black to Venice up into the swamps around lake pontchatrain. Anyone in the region seeing em? Looks like we're going to have another repeat of last season

Saw a few
Saw a handful while building a blind in a little pothole. Didn't check any other ponds but it's more teal than I saw in 3 scouting trips before last season. There were 8 teal and a dozen mottled ducks in a little pond 30yrdsX 60 yards. I didn't check the other ponds on my lease, to hot and sweaty after dragging lumber in the marsh. It encouraging to at least see teal at this point, hopefully more to come in the next 2 weeks.

teal sightings
Glad we've got some reports on here telling it like it is, some seeing a few, some not at all. I've yet to see any but hoping that the full moon on the 8th moves some down. Surely it's got to be better than last year......

Not too sure how much the full moon has to do with the migration. It has more to do with any type of cool weather on the breading grounds.

Bwt are photo migratory
Length of day and moon seem to move bwt more than cool weather imo, although we'd sure take a lil push of cool!!! Not too many on the island yet but sept 9 should help BIG TIME!!!

full moon and shorter days gets them on the move north to south typically. Hope we don't get a 5-6 inch rain event between now and the opener
