That time of year again

Has anyone tried the Yscloskey bridge yet

Haven't tried it yet, but from what I remember, the water itself needs time to get colder as well. Next Tuesday has a low of 32 in the city with Monday's low being in the mid 30's. Hopefully around then?

I've been thinking about that spot a lot recently...

The water needs to be close to 40 degrees. The coldest I saw for the nearby buoy was 51 degrees. It'll take a few more cold fronts to get the water down to temp.

So I went down to Myrtle Grove Marina and they were catching trout almost every cast. I went in to buy live shrimp and pay my $10 fee to fish the bank but they were fresh out. So I got some market bait and caught maybe 40 reds and drum but only 3 were legal, but still had a good time. I will definitely be back with live shrimp in hand

Saw 40 people on bank coming in. Talked to a few. Nobody caught. The temp has to be freezing for 2 days straight down there. Yesterday water was 54 deg.
In Covington at 4:30 it was 31 but other side of green bridge it was 40 deg. It will have to be in 20s for at least 2 days by me for them to get stacked up in there.

I spoke with someone that went to delacroix Friday and they caught a limit in less than an hour from the bank.. They said that people out there were talking about the action at Yscloskey bridge earlier. Thats probably why there were so many people out there when you passed. Im going Tuesday morning and will find out for myself and will post pics.

I've been fishing hopedale for over 30 years. If we get a hard freeze on north shore (20s for at least 2 days) then the jubilee will be on. If not then water won't be cold enough.
You also need a strong north wind to blow water out marsh too. Even tho we had north wind for a few days and it was strong surprisingly they had decent water down there.

My buddy and I went out there Friday. From talking to people out there people were tearing them up on Thursday. On Friday morning, we were catching reds on nearly every cast. Everyone, which was about 15 people, along both sides of the bayou were into nonstop action. We limited out in less than 45 minutes. I talked to some people that went out Saturday and the fish were already gone. You may just have to wait for the next cold front.
