World Record Copperhead??- Tunica Hills- 53' Nov. 2014

Reply
I caught a 53' Copperhead while hunting in Tunica Hills last Monday, November 10, 2014. After reading around the Internet, this seems to be quite a big one! Long and wide. I didn't intend to keep or kill it, but it was hanging around camp and my hunting buddy was pretty nervous, so I shot it once and threw it in a bag. When I got home, it was still alive so I put it out of its misery and then measured it and skinned it. Then my wife looked up the record... I've tanned it and without the head it is 51'.

I didn't know anyone cared to keep a record of those creepy crawlers. Thanks for doing us all a favor out in the woods!!

Wow that sure is a big one, no doubt about that. But it sure is skinny. I have never seen one that long but I have seen some much fatter. I guess this one just grew long instead of wide.

How to you even go about getting something like that certified as the record?

me and my buddy were scouting tunica hills in august and killed a canebrake rattlesnake i believe he called it atleast 5 if not 5 1/2' sitting in the middle of the trail and never rattled

they can be pretty colored snakes , I find they really change colors depending on the terrain you find them in , I killed one over 5 ft (60 + inches) in the Three River Management Area back in the 70's , it was much lighter in color and like mentioned a lot fatter , it looks skinny , I would have called it more a sand buff color , when I first seen it I actually thought it was a cool looking driftwood stick , I walked up to it in the middle of the trail , when the tongue came out it got a load in the head -----I tanned it and made a hat band out of it and Katrina destroyed it
