On November 22, the weather was very hot and the wind was swirling. I was not planning on going to the stand, but decided to go for an evening hunt anyway. I wasn't expecting to see anything, so i was not paying very close attention to the area i was hunting. I had two does under a feeder to my left, and i was watching them eat. I looked over my shoulder and saw movement in the corner of my field in front of the stand. I figured it was just a doe coming out, so i didn't even continue looking at the animal coming out. I glanced back at the does on the feeder to my left, and when i looked back over my shoulder i saw a big buck crossing the back of the field very fast. I picked up the binoculars and took a quick look, and saw that he looked like a mature buck. I dropped the binoculars and grabbed my gun,but by then the buck was almost out of the field. I quickly put the cross hairs on him and shot. The buck immediately dropped in his tracks. I called my dad to tell him the news, and i was nervous that the buck did not make the antler restrictions and body weight requirements for my club (which is 15 inch spread and over 190 pounds). When i got back to the check in station, he turned out to weigh 235 pounds and had a 15.5 inch spread.
