Extremely rare no spot Redfish

Today I went fishing in Point aux chenes and hooked into a good 20' Redfish. At first glance it was a normal fish but after i got it in the boat did i realize this Redfish has no spots. So i googled Redfish with no spots and i read a few articles and they all say that no spots is extremely rare so I decided i had to share with Louisiana on my awesome catch.

caught a 15lb refish with no spots at the short rocks this summer...was wondering if it being bigger that the spot could have possibly faded out?

why would a farm raised redfish have no spots? does all farm raised redfish have no spots, just curious?

I have caught probably 6-7 with no spots and always have been told they were farm raised. I am not sure how true this is, but people have said farm raised reds don't have spots because unlike other red fish they don't need the spot for a defense mechanism. I have always been told a redfish had the spot to serve as a decoy of the fishs eye and when attacked they could get away. AGAIN, this is what I have been told not proven.

everything I read said redfish with no spots are extremely rare! they say farm raised redfish do have spots! I would mount it!

So these 6-7 spotless reds that you caught, and are supposed to be farm raised... were you fishing in a redfish farm?? Just curious!

I caught a red once back in the day when I was a kid, under the Hwy 11 bridge. It didn't have a spot and it was about 12' long. I thought it was a croaker!!

Bass Pro Shops in Denham Springs, had one in the tank with no spots. Should ask them where they got it from....who knows, but I say mount what you want! When I was young I caught a 8.5 lb bass (in my photo), and my parents at the time could not afford to mount it! I never have caught one since. Its all about the story, and what makes you feel good! That is why I like fishing, you never know what you will catch.

When i was growing up o would throw a cast net in bayou lafourche and catch all the small catfish i wanted just tuff taking them out the net hope this helps. Long Beach Mobile Truck Repair
