Crawfishing tips

Reply

I have 24- set nets and 20 pillow traps. I am looking for the best bait to use for both. If anyone knows of any public spots they are willing to share would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

I'm thinking your best bet will be around manchac/laplace area. a lot of people do very well in joyce wma. nets would be useless though. pillow traps or long neck pyramid

Stump, I'd check out belle river area since your closer to that. Once that river drops to a certain level and the water temp starts going up in the 60's you should be able to catch them there

Use one poggie. One corn cob. An one piece cajun world crawfish bait in your pillow traps.

In set nets I use beef melt , securing it to the net with a shower curtain ring. For my pillow traps I use porgies early in the season, and slowly switch to porgie/and pellets (crawfish pellets like dog food). If you got a boat. Belle River. If you want to try out some pond type fishing, do a search on this forum of 'South Farm'. I've posted all the info in past seasons. Cool place near Ramah. I have a deer lease that's flooded, and makes great crawfishing, but I promise you I will still go to South Farm, for fun.
