Don't get a chance to shoot many of these. This is only the second one i have shot in over 35 years of hunting. I have shot many of the more common black-bellied whistling ducks. It was shot on Salvador WMA this morning.
Congrats on a real rare bird. I've killed two but both were killed in south Florida where they are significantly more common. Pretty birds for sure.
Been wondering about Davis pond/Salvador. After reading LDWF's ariel surveys, combined with having a successful season on lease hadn't bothered with hunting there this year. Wonder why the lack of birds? Conditions are fair? Pressure should be down I would imagine.
