Re: waterowl ID
Guess my first thought is a Drake Blue Wing Teal crossed with a Spoon Bill(northern shovler) has all the Drake markings of both...

Trophy for sure.....rare bird

New Zealand Shoveler
Look up New Zealand Shoveler. Looks like this could be what you have. I agree that this is the markings of a drake blue wing and northen shoveler but that is exactly what the New Zealand looks like. Pretty cool. The fact that two were killed this weekend makes me think some New Zealand Shovers payed us a visit. Either way, put it on the wall!

Re: waterowl ID
I shot one very similar yesterday. Had a group of 4 come in, killed 3 wounded the other and coudn't find it in the thick cut grass. Anyways, one of the birds was a shoveler, a blue wing teal, and the 3rd was the same size as the shoveler and looked like the new zealand shoveler pictured above with the exception of the bill being normal. It was definitly strange looking. I should have taken a picture...

Re: waterowl ID
Well I also shot one of these guys this week in 2017 in Bayou Bienvenue. I thought it was a Teal-Shoveler but looking at the New Zeland Shoveler pics I believe it may be one of those. Long flight for migration for sure:0
