Why/Why is 22LR ammo so hard to find and so expensive? Went to Bass Pro Sat. afternoon non in stock but all the 9MM or 45acp or seem to be every other type of ammo inc. 223/ What is up with the cheapest shot of the past? This round is for target or small varmits ect.

mike, because everybody is hoarding it, not because the ammo manufactures aint making it!! they are, but they just cant keep up with the hoarders!!! that's what is driving the price up, the old supply and demand rule!!!! sad but true!!! I know some guys that have 4,5,6 thousand rounds of 22lr because they are scared we wont be able to get it anymore!!! give thanks to Obama for all this ammo problems and many other things!!!! who would have ever thought!!! it will get worst, 2 more years of Obama, he cant take our guns, but he can sure take away the ammo!!!! the only hope we got and some people mite argue is the NRA, join today if u didn't yet!!! don't wait on our politicians!!!! the 223 caliber is next, guaranteed!!!!

I gave up on local store bought .22 ammo long ago on the first run against our rights. I use bulkammo.com, the best value is the Amscor ammo. nice and clean, an cheaper than most.

Also try ammosupplywarehouse.com, better prices and they have it. I was at Academy the other day and saw a box of 50, 22lr and think it was like $ 5.49. Also, there's some entrepreneurs on this site trying to rip people off.

The BIG Question is Why .22 is the cheapest or was cheap least destructive round. Some may argue why does the private citizen need armor piercing rounds but why pick on lil .22 Are the tree huggers trying to protect squirrels and paper plates now?

mike the companies are still making 22 shells! the problem is people got scared they were going to stop making them, so people are hoarding them! the companies cant make them fast enuf to keep up with demand!! prices went up because of the demand! you know that old supply and demand rule!!

I was in Columbus Mississippi and every store I went to had thousands of rounds and the cheapest was 28 dollars for 550 rounds. I could not believe it so I bought a few bricks.

abeastandsavage went to a place called garys and mikes. We went to a few other places but I don't remember the names. Mikes also gives 15 percent off for military. I was just up there hunting with a buddy so I don't know much around there.
