Went out to Montegut la and Friday went after the reds and landed a big 32.7” red on a spinner bait and a few drum. Saturday I decided to see if I could find some trout and found some still holding in a Canal, a few specs and whites.

Very fine catch, indeed!!Love hauling reds and specks into my lil yak,a Sundolphin that I did a custom camo job on,though not nearly as durable a paint job as I would have liked and I plan to skuff down the finish and shoot an adhesion-promoter,like Bulldog Adhesion Promoter on de lil yak and re-do the camo job.Tough finding room for limit of reds in lil yak but use an insulated bag and a dry-storage bag stuffed inside and I can hold a nice limit of reds and few specks in it!!Nice haul, indeed, and I have been finding some willing reds w/in sight of the Williams Blvd Launch and not a far paddle!!!

My first Kayak was Emotion Comet 8. I use to drag around a fish net bag in the water with a floaty on it. I then went to the fish bad, and strapped on to the front. This improved my ability to move around versus dragging a bag. It’s not always about the rig you have but just having a good time on the water. Many times I will be at a gas station and see these guys with $50,000 boats and may have a red. I remember I caught and released a 20lb drum in my Emotion on 12lb test, he must of pulled me a mile! Good times.
Yeah I know PAC well, I passed bumble bee bridge and drove a few miles and launch on the side of the road, once the road curves west I believe and headed out south.

I have more fun in dat lil yak and love the looks of the faces of folks who just can't believe the simplicity of yak fishing and about the only draw-back,if there is one,to my lil yak is that I do not have much room for storage of fish but can quite easily stow about 5 strapping reds and a hand full of specks in my dry storage bag that I stuff inside of an insulated bag that I put ice in.That way,my fish are double-protected and catching and netting a red of 25+ inches is more fun in yak and by the time I typically get them netted, they are spent and I have lost a grand total of one red that was hooked, not bad odds considering that on 3 trips,I have caught 13 reds!!!
