Bassmaster Magazine names Toledo Bend No. 1 bass fishery in nation/ Remember when they were talking about TB dying. Then they talked about ways for getting grass and limits and catch and release of all fish over 10pounds. Looks like it proves a point or two.

But we cant have that. A hurricane might come through and kill all of the fish! Its better that we kill all of the fish so we can eat them instead of them dying and rotting!!!!!

Now WL&F have removed the 7 fish creel limit and bumped it to 10???? Because the area can sustain it?? Really?? REALLY????
Maybe, just maybe, they got sick of hearing everyone cry about not being able to stock their freezer with filets. So now, they are giving the pubic what they want...bass populations be damned. Everyone will come crying in a few years about the lack of bass and WL&F will have to come to the rescue.
Get ready for the other fish species to flourish. I guess that is a plus??

Bring back the 14' size limit in the spillway. Fishing was better back then when we had the size limit.

Just goes to show how well the Texas Game and Fish have managed Toledo Bend.

Fishing was way better when the size limit was in place. Unfortunately, the majority of the fishermen said the keeping was not good. The greedy nature of people won out. And now, we are all paying for it.

Funny how all the people that wanted the size limit removed are nowhere to be found. All the people that said the fishery will be better with no size limit have all become very quiet.
Cue the crickets.......

With all the rain we've had this year I can understand not catching any fish. The basin looks like chocolate milk and I know the bayous east of here through BR are full to overflowing with fresh water.
So, since the 7 fish no size limit was implemented the basin or 'spillway' is now void of bass? REALLY?!

As for Toledo Bend, bring back the grass and the bass will come. Keeping water in the lake is also key. High water during the spawn helps. False river was a nice place to fish some years back when it had grass.
Twenty plus years of trying to grow big bass in the basin didn't work. Toledo Bend and the basin/spillway are two totally different ecosystems.
