UNION WMA

cant believe they let the lease go for Union wma! Killed my first deer there 10 years ago and my most recent last year there! Best chances at getting a deer on a wma in the state in my opinion always worth the drive from Gonzales! Anyone else going to miss Union ?

I haven't been but heard good things about it.they get more money from saltwater licenses federal funding but that makes 2 that we lost bens creek and now union..sounds like someone needs to learn how to manage our money for state lands.

Then they pass this new carry any gun while bow hunting that don't include WMA and nwr go figure slap in the face of all sportsmen that use WMA and nwr

State didn't own it, they leased it. Timber company can make tons more money leasing it out in small parcels and not have to deal with all the coonasses that mess the place up

No one said they owned the land they had a lease they let it go.just like Bens creek which screws all the people that hunted there not just the Coonasses you claim mess things up..everyone that hunts wma suffer from the loss of 1 wma because that means that we lost another place that's supposed to be managed for us that don't want to bow down and pay a lease or can't afford to purchase land.coonass redneck or whatever term you want to use.

I don't think this had anything to do with ldwf but with plum creek.

The excuse I heard about bens creek was that the logging company went up on the lease and the state didn't want to pay it.true or not that's what I heard from a game warden. Don't know anything about union heard it was a good place but couldn't go last year.oh well another lost place..that makes 2 in less than 5 years.

Yep, leases are going up for everyone.

Still plenty of land to hunt all over the state. Many acres have been added to existing WMAs including Maurepas

the more state land is lost, the more private land leases will go up!!! maybe someone is in cahoots(politicians)?????? cant be, not in Louisiana????

It is not a slap in the face for me. Archery season is traditionally archery only. No need for side arms. A quiet October hunt that goes back many a decades, no problem. Some off duty JPSO cop gets jugged in the leg by a hog one time, now Charles Manson is roaming the October woods. No!
