Grand Isle thieves

Apparently there has been a lot of thefts on the island lately. Watch your stuff....

there always are!!! that's because camps are empty most of the time which makes it easy! I wonder where the thieves could possibly be from????? that's a hard one but, you only get 1 guess!!!!

shoot them skin them and put their hides on the bridge as a warning to the others how about that Beast

a.c. good idea except it mite bring in too many sharks and mess up the fishin, but that would sure serve as a deterrent for sure!!! probably would be surprised whos hanging on the bridge????

Should be easy to catch in this day and time. Hide some cameras around and you got them. Put a camera on the GI bridge in the off season and you can check anyone coming and going in the am etc.

you are right ,being raised on the Atchafalaya we were taught at a young age if it don't belong to you don't touch it are you might be fish food.

capt js? don't know if a vast majority of the thieves even have to use the bridge to go and come??? i'm sure some do but a lot don't have too!!!

a.c. i'm sure back in the day, like they say, the fish had a lot of food!!!!! people just aint raised like we were!!! its like u don't have to go to work and earn it, just go steal it, just don't get caught!!! things sure do change, but not necessarily for the better especially these days!!!!

They done spent all their BP money now its back to the old way of doing things. When we go down there we lock up everything at night its a hassel hauling gear in and out of boat but its the only way to keep your stuff. Not all are bad but there are thieves.

It doesn't hurt to leave on every outside light you have. Make it like daylight.

I have some fishing pals that went down to GI last weekend and stayed at one of the beach camps. Sometime after midnight and before 5am they were 'picked clean'!. Ice chests, rods, etc. Good luck!

One of my buds was night fishing at sand dollar motel. happened to turn and look across the piers at his truck saw someone so he snuck around behind the store and caught 2 youts removing fishing stuff from the back of his truck held them at gun point till cops got there hotel surveillance had them on video. Cops hauled them off. disposition of the case? dropped due to lack of evidence. Guess where they lived?

The guys at the camp called PD. They showed and said that it has been happening a lot and left; no report written!!! Lock your stuff up! Good luck!

Okay now I have to know.....who are ya'll talking about??

We always put our rods and other gear back up on the porch each day....assuming thieves would be too lazy to walk up the stairs to steal. Last summer someone came up on our porch while we slept, picked through the rods and stole the most expensive set up along with aluminum pliers and a half smoked pack of cigarettes and lighter. Now everything comes inside every night and other security measures have been taken. Luckily we have a resident next to our camp who now confronts anyone near our camp who he doesn't recognize, with a firearm in hand.

happens every year at this time, when will people learn, lock stuff up, put cameras and warning signs up, if you can afford get ADT.. Good luck.
