I am returning to Bass Fishing after a 12 year hiatus. College, moving towns, jobs, kids, etc.
I tried bass fishing out of Bob's Bayou black marina on 8/8/15. Fished canals and cuts down the Capasaw from the Blue Bird to Lake Penchant. Spinner bait. Plastic worm. Buzz Bait. Plastic frog. Rattle Trap. NOT A SINGLE BITE.
I grew up fishing Lake Verret system and Atchafalaya Spillway. Lots of sloughs and points and dead ends, swamps. Always was successful there (success being at least a couple bass). But Bayou Black's landscape is very very different.
Am I missing something here? Did I not fish the right spots for bass? Did I go at a terrible time of the year? There were at least 20+ boats launching at the same time as me, looked like a tourney. But once I got out to the canals mentioned above, I didn't see a single boat (except for a few perch/sac a lait fishing).
Any help would be appreciated. Living in Thibodaux and want somewhere closer than the Pierre Part side of Lake Verret or the Atchafalaya Spillway to bass fish. Thanks in advance.
