Remington Sportsman 48

Reply

Recently got my hands on a Remington Sportsman 48. Been doing my own research on it and keep running into a brick wall. Seems that I have either a nickel plated or polished stainless receiver.... I cannot find this exact model anywhere. All the stamps and marking match for the Sportsman 48 except that one feature. Any feed back on this would be appreciated.

...if it's spring recoil/eject be sure you use the right tension spring for low or high brass...check w/a gunsmith...we have a 20 ga. and the reciver has the original deep blue finish...it's a good gun cheers

...looks like a signal mirror...'Here I is-Here I is'... that 'deep thinking' guy who polished that receiver can be seen from a long ways off !!! cheers

Re: Remington Sportsman 48
The 58 replaced the 11-48 and the Sportsman 48 and was the Remington's first try at a gas operated shotgun. It is heavier than the 11-48 series and was made in the mid 50's to until they dropped it for the 1100. I have never handled on myself. Still hoping for more info on my Sportsman oddity.
