Mr Reynolds, has there been a teal estimate done recently for the state?

No. I got bumped from the plane today by the Secretary and Law Enforcement. With the weather forecast, I'm not hopeful we will get it done.

hoping this timely cool front coming will help those in the coastal marshes of SW LA. your thoughts?

The teal are thick as Mosquitos in the Henderson North Flats! Gonna be over with in five minutes come sun-up Saturday morning. I'm going to plan on sleeping in Sunday morning and catch the 7:30 shoot-out after everybody else leaves....not to mention, that's about the time that cool front supposed to pass through!

We flew 19 lines today, trying to get a 3-day survey done in 2 days, and dodging thunderstorms most of mid-day. Not many teal in the marsh, which is normal, but our transects cut a couple big groups in rice fields north of Lacassine NWR and west of Gueydan. I suspect from those observations alone, the estimate will surpass those of the past 2 years, but it wasn't outstanding.

Don't know what we will get accomplished tomorrow in SE LA, but I'm always hoping to see a few more birds.

Went scouting on Salvador Monday morning and only saw two teal. Went to Venice on Tuesday and saw plenty of birds down river. Its unbelievable how much grass and duck potato there is in venice this year, if the storms stay away this fall it should be a great season again down river.

I doubt you count any today with the storms. I did see about 60 marsh rockets on a small pond near fourchon this morning as I flew over.

Got 3.5 lines done before weather chased us out, so we went to Catahoula Lake.

I doubt we'll have a shot tomorrow, so we are done. SW and Catahoula were completed; SE was not.

The middle one is a September/October pic with all drakes in eclipse, but mancrack is a lot greener than that right now. Just another Pearl River hunter trying to redistribute the competition!

Lot of redistribution going on!!! Thanks to a post on 10/9 about 'teal thick as mosquitos in Henderson' I was meet by four head lights in every hole I scouted for most of the season, at 3:30 am!!! It was terrible. Some people think that all the teal should be theirs to hunt! Anyone interested in buying some teal decoys.... Won't be needing mine anymore.
