Check the charts for the rut in your area. The primary and secondary rut is when you want to use doe in estrus scents.

I won't put it out again. I found a nice scrape Sunday morning and went to the store to get some fresh Tinks 69 specifically to put out that afternoon by the scrape. At 3:30 a buck was headed right for the scrape. When he got about 25 yards from the scrape, he turned his nose up and went back the way he came. I have never seen a deer run from scent like this one did.

"I have never seen a deer run from scent like this one did."

He might have been running from the scent you left not the Tinks.

I've never had that happen before with scent either, but it happened this weekend. Something sure spooked him. I'm assuming it was the Tinks and to be safe I just won't put it out any more.

I have heard of this before. I heard to prevent this from happening again mix tinks w/ water from a creek on your property. I have never tried this but sounds good?

I 've had that happen before also! Using Tinks and Code Blue, Not sure if the batchs were bad or what. I have used "Wildlife research center #1 select estrus" ever sense and had NO bad outcomes as of yet. I 've even had a few does come check it out!!! they usally run from doe estrus scents!

I have used Tinks 69 for a number of years with no results. Come to think about it, I have killed several bucks in the past 7-8 years and everyone killed happened to be on a day that I was using no scent. I have read stories from testimonies about how the bucks would come to check out the scent. That has never happened to me and I think that I will probably not use it anymore. I do understand that it is supposed to work during the rut. I have tried hanging the scent bombs, someone told me to get a dropper once and put a few drops on scrapes at the same time everyday to try and dupe a buck into coming to check the scrape at an odd time, but I just don't believe in the product b/c it has not paid off for me. The one thing that I have learned from using Tinks 69 is that the smell is prevalent naturally throughout the woods during the rut. If I get a strong wiff of it while walking to my deer stand in the morning, I know that there is or was a doe around which gives me positive visions of the big one. Another thing is that the bottle says to keep it in a cool place for storage. If not properly stored, it may go bad. I used to think negatively about the grunt calls also until I grunted up my first deer. After that, I have called in numerous deer.

I have had luck with scents in the past and I've also seen bucks stop dead in their tracks and run from what I believe was too much scent, if you use it less is best IMO.

One exception, if you're not a smoker or heavy coffee drinker you can have success peeing in scrapes or in mock scrapes, this really does work. My buddy just got back from an Illinois hunt and told me how the deer went apesh$t over a spot he took a leak on, he said the bucks would come to that spot over and again and I've seen it on my own small piece of property, where I make mock scrapes by peeing in them, and get a kick outta how the deer soon work them.

Well, I just bought my first bottle of Tinks 69 and planned on using it Thanksgiving week for the rut. Now you guys have me second guessing myself. Maybe I'll just let it stay in the bottle and see what the does do for me. Bad thing is, I have not seen many does on the camera, so I planned on putting some estrous out.

I bow hunt only and only use Tinks products. But like everything the scents are seasonal. If the deer are not rutting, really rutting, don't use Tinks 69. I have had does blow to high heaven and bucks run like Obama from a Klan mamber when I used 69 prior to the rut. Before and after the rut I use Tinks #1 doe pee. Also like previously stated, don't use to much. All I use is a drag rag. I cover the rag with urine and walk to my stand, leaving the rag 20 or so yards away from the tree I'm hunting. With both scents, when used properly, deer always come straight to the scents.

I never make mock scrapes or poor the urine on the ground. In previous test, the deer avoid those areas all together. As I mentioned before, I only bow hunt and usually kill two -three deer a year. The only reason I take 2-3 is that's all my wife and I can eat. There are plenty more opportunities.

I've been hunting this way for three years now with great success. Tinks is always in my pack.

Good Luck.

I used Pete Richard's buck lure 5 times and every time I saw deer go right to it.

I like tinks 69 but i agree it is too strong you have to use very little or water it down and bucks love it. In places with a lot of pressure, tinks scares the deer bc they smell it every time they see a hunter walk by and they get educated. Ive had deer run from code blue i think its bc its from one deer in a different herd and your deer can positively identify it as something unusual.

I have used Tinks for many years,, and have had good success with it,, but I have changed to the Southern Whitetails Sent... I have been using it now for two seasons, and every time that I have put it out,, I have had deer come to it... Both does & bucks.... And it's from South Louisiana!!!
