I agree on Sherburne they are everywhere out there my buddy almost ran one over last season when we were going duck hunting down section 120 road, it was easily 200 pounds. I live in Gonzales close to maurepas and I plan on scouting and finding a spot to bow hunt out there this week. Just curious on how many hogs were in the area, I plan on going to Sherburne soon to knock one down!

here's my in take on hunter effort per kill, i consider myself a good to above average hog hunter, close to 100 kill's since 2000, no take maurepas swamp, i figure on about 60 to 70 hours effort to kill or even get a shot, n the other hand Sherburne, i can get a shot daily, about a 10 hour hunter effort per shot. ez math to me.

definitely not easy killing anything on public land but sounds like your doing something right! I've got close to a dozen deer kills on public land and I've yet to kill a hog, hoping to learn how to stalk some and get better at stalking deer in the process. Sounds like your doing something right thou!

Pearl River WMA is loaded with hogs too. I've gotten about 10 in the last three years from out of there.
