Bend Fall Trip

Reply
Got a chance to make a trip with youngest son Eric to the Bend FRIDAY, Saturday, and Sunday. A big front blew through Friday morning early, with 25-30 mph winds. Our biggest bass were caught in the main lake, but had to go back in protected waters when the wind and waves got bad. Our best day was Saturday when we caught around 50 bass with the best 5 bass going around 21 lbs. Fun trip!

Great trip. Our youngest son coached at Msnny HS and live on the Bend. I know a lot of the guides on the lake and all say for numbers Oct. is the best month looks like they were right. Still have many of the Boy Howdy clear with blue back top water lure which was a killer in this month on the bend.

We passed through Many, and there was signs all over for a repeat in the 2A football championship. Many Tigers must have won it last year. I just wish the Bend was about 2 hours closer, love that lake.

Yea spend many a Friday night in those stands we never missed a game. My son lived on a canal off the main lake and we use to stock it with all the bass we caught for the grand kids, however, when spring came they would have 50 boats in that small canal for a week or two. I also love the lake fished it when the Fin and Feather was as good a resort as you could find. They had about 30 guides working out of the resort. Band and seafood buffet on the week end second to none. Don't know about now but almost every restaurant and marina closed down. Big Bass was a great place also for many years when Lela and family ran it only a few had swimming pools. Did Wal Mart move are closed down.

Great catch.

If you don't mind sharing, what was the best bait and how deep did you find them?

We fished all the way back in several coves, mainly in 2 to 3 feet of water. We caught on spinnerbaits, worms, and a few on frogs in the pads.
