8K Overnight Tuna Charter FAIL

Reply
Ed, please don't attempt to pay your 2016 fishing club dues after treating these people as you did. That is totally unacceptable. I could say much more.

Ed probably has his side of the story. After reading Lesliemg's comments about the charter, I was probably too quick on my comments. Sorry Ed.

I would appreciate hearing Eds side. I have not posted anything exaggerated or fabricated.
We spoke with them Wednesday with Hurricane Patricia in the loom and they insisted they would maneuver the weather and put us on Tuna or contact us otherwise. We've been cancelled before. It happens. Between getting settled in room midnight Friday and at dock at 6 am, I'm sure none of us even pulled up a radar. I don't own and operate a 65' boat therefore I rely on professionals in this situation. I research and have never been given a reason to doubt a charter captain, until now. But then I've never ended up in a transfer either. We've seen 12' swells before in these boats and have had no trouble fishing. But the idea that he had Zero intention of getting us anywhere near tuna is ridiculous. I'm sure he knew we weren't going 100 miles out before we left dock and we'd never gotten on that boat to fish rigs. I've seen other charters were cancelled as early as Tuesday of last week and haven't come across one that went out, but nor have I looked. I'm convinced that Ed was blinded by $8000 and the scam he made on fuel and a trip cut short was just bonus. Hind site is...we shouldn't have let our excitement and then exhaustion let it go that far, or trusted a gentleman's agreement with Ed, or expected any integrity from the situation. Fortunately Ed is only one worm among many respectable captains.
Still no response from Ed Pitre or Steve Tomeny...but I suppose there's always another side to a story.

Havent heard both sides but you are not in the clear here either. No way in the world I would even think about going out in those conditions especially with old folks and kids. Surely you looked at the forecast?

I wouldnt have gone fishing anywhere that day, much less in the gulf of Mexico

Those snapper look undersized

theres no excuses here. As a captain with clients lives in his hands, he should not have left the dock with a Gale warning and advisory. Completely unprofessional.
