Don't do it. Buddy learned the hard way last year.

Dont do it there for sure and let me give you a little advice. Take the $5500 and pick out 2 to 3 guide services and book a weekend until all $5500 is used up and i promise you that you will come out better. That place is going to take your money.

Definitely save your money. My buddy and I had a blind on their last year. We had a limit opening day then killed 10 that Sunday and after that we killed 30 ducks the rest of the year (I think we hunted 17 times). There were birds in the area though. The farmer was nice but only cut out about a 30 yard ring around our blind. Plus they put up crawfish traps in December in our field. One upside of this blind was the goose flight. We shot 10 specks and a few snows later in the season. It is also very easy to hunt out there (we did it with no four wheeler). I would pay $1,200 for a lease out there, definitely not the $5,500 they are asking for.

Trapping mudbugs for christmas! Hillarious, any lease that is a single pond/blind ect. is suspect unless it's cheap enough that you can lease multiple sites. There is just no one pond that can take a whole season of pounding (15-20 hunts or more) and produce consistently. If you have that much money to spend get a big piece of less choice land or several small pieces in seperate areas that you can practically scout. This will allow you to manage pressure and have more consistent hunting. Just my thought FWIW.
I would rather have 5 ponds holding 100-200 birds a piece going into opening day than one holding 1000.

If it makes anyone feel better 5500 won't touch a pit in NELA . 7500 and up to 20,000 is the norm .

Further validation of gray duck limits, hip boots, pirogues and a side order of post hunt trout and reds!
