Scope eye relief

Reply
I'm having trouble with eye relief with my scopes. The more I turn up the magnification, the closer I need to get to the scope to see out of it. Have any of you encountered this? The scope is mounted as far back as possible. I've been thinking about cutting the stock back a few inches. Any ideas?? Thanks

What is rated eye relief on your scope. Look at manufacturers site to determine. Most scopes lose eye relief as u power up. Nikons have some of best eye relief and don't seem to pull away as much as power increases. U could also get a setback base for front ring which would solve your problem for the least money. A good scope is worth every dollar it cost, a good investment u will enjoy for many years.

I agree bigjim. After trying several different scopes this year I put on a Nikon 4.5 x 18 x 40 on my 270 win. Best hunting scope for the buck I have ever bought. 3.5 inch eye relief and stays clear when I crank it up.

Make sure when you mount your scope, you do so at the highest power setting. If you can't get it adjusted for eye relief, then your going to have issues.
