January 2nd. Whitetail hunt in Tensas

On the morning of January 2nd I decided that I was going to make a weekend hunt on family property in Tensas before they shut the area down due to high waters. It was approximately 7:30 when I noticed there was a coyote In the distance. When he made his way back into the woods I immediately noticed 2 big body deer running away from the coyote. One of them was a big buck but couldn't tell how many horns he had at 500 yards away. As the deer made its way back into the woods I thought for sure my hunt was over with the coyote in the area. Well i was completely wrong. At 8:15 I had the biggest deer I've ever seen step out. I didn't think twice about shooting. There was no food on the ground so I knew he wasn't staying long. I immediately grabbed my .35 and took a shot. After I took the shot I thought to myself just like every hunter thinks. 'Did I hit the deer.' Well immediately after I attempted to trail blood and found him laying 'DEAD' 25 yards from where I shot.

That's one unique looking rack. Congrats on your kill. They don't go far when shot with a 35.
