On December 30 my son Blake Lastrapes and I are in each a stand set up side by side of each other. We heard a noise that was coming from our left. Blake lets me know he sees a deer then realizes it is a buck. I pick up my optics and realize he is a shooter. I told Blake to keep him in the scope until I tell u to shoot. Oh he did exactly what I told him to do when finially the shot was fired and the eight point buckled up and trotted off and crashed about twenty yards in front of us. He was so excited and kept saying, 'daddy I shot the buck'. I was pumped up and proud of him. I always say, ' you must be present to win' and that afternoon hunt definently proved the saying. The Double A buck will be mounted and put on the wall in his room next to his first buck he shot two years ago. The deer was aged at 5 1/2 years old and weighed 225 lbs, with a 16 3/8 wide rack, and scored 123.
