Any word on the Sacalait bite around Lake Bouef or Lake Des Allemands? I went try them last week but only got a few before the wind forced me to stop fishing. Just wondering if anybody has had much luck there?

Neighbor and his dad went yesterday to Lake Boeuf. Caught a couple. Long day with little to show for it.

...that place was great at one time it was pristine...seen coons walk across lillypads that was 3 ft. in diameter...many bass 6 to 8 lbs...bridge would swing open by rope (if the current wasn't too strong)... near the trestle was good but had big chunks of rocks 6 in. under surface...(takes skegs off engines real quick )...cheers

Thanks for the update. Your neighbors trip sounds similar to mine. I am of the opinion that the spawn is over with for sacalait.

Admiral, you going back about 40 to 50 years since they had that floating barge bridge in Kraemer. LOL.... I used to wait for everyone to go through the bridge and when they closed it... I would start fishing it. Caught lots of +8 lb. bass right there.

Yeah, I would stay away from Lake Boeuf if I were you. Fish aren't biting!

The water has been low for the past week. Easier for those Pro Drives to pass under the bridge from Theriot. But you could hit logs in the canal on the way to the lake. Last couple of trips had to find deeper water to find the Sacs fishing in the middle of the canal. Also picked up some nice bass last week. And yes, I would like to have the lake to myself.......lol. Fish stop biting when there are too many propellers in the water.

Yes indeed. Too many props the bite stops.
I've trolled against the bank and fished the middle many things times.

Well expect to not be alone for sure. They already have a good bit of people fishing. Such a small place greatly affected by pressure. One of those places that i hate reading about on the internet. You know word is getting around when you have big aluminum boats with 150's trying to get through theriots. haha.. Good luck

That's why I love shift work.
My wife even gets disgusted with the weekend warriors. She said 'I'm taking off Friday so we can go fishing.'
I love that woman!

My son went last Saturday and caught 70 beautiful slabs in the middle of Bayou Boeuf ( Kramer canal) fishing about six to eight feet deep. We went back on Sunday and caught 49, again Sac A Lait were in the middle of the bayou. I went back on Thursday and the bite had slowed but still managed to catch 21. Marshdeer, I heard people are catching in Des Allemands, Bayou Gauche also, think I am going to try the Gulf Canal next.

Marshdeer, I went Monday morning and caught 39 beautiful slabs and 15 Bass. My buddy said it was the best trip he has been on in 20 years due to the size of the sac a lait. We fished the Des Allemands and Bayou Gauche area. places to fish in BG are mecham canal. Amerada Hess, airplane canal, humble in the bayou and lake and Godchaux canal, but I have heard stories of people getting run out of Godchauex canal and also Paradias canal, all these areas are good for sac a lait. Try to find a bank approximately 1 to two feet deep that's clear of lilies or faucet grass, fish about 10 inches deep and you will catch them, they are up against the bank spawning now.

Smitt, if you purchase a map of the Des Allemands area I don't remember what number map it is, it will show clearly the location of the canals I spoke of. Hope this helps.
