Catfish lake help

Reply
I need a little advice.... I've fished the leeville area for the last 15 years but have never made it as far north as catfish lake. Have a trip planned there with my son and son-n-law. We only have 2 days to fish and from my past experience at leeville it sometimes take longer to find and/or figure out what the fish want. Note: we will be in a 17'prodrive,sold bay boat. Ive given plenty of advice to many a fisherman in the past and hope it can make its full circle. Sooo... I'm asking for a little help. I don't want your favorite or your hot spots, just a little help, pointed in the right direction.

The middle of the lake?

The north end? Deep? Shallow? Canals are better? Live or plastics?Any hazards ?? Thanks in advance.

I'm far from an expert..but I pondered whether to fish golden meadow or leeville a couple weeks ago and decided on leeville. Not sure if they're still catching them in catfish lake or not, my thoughts were the fish had started to move south so I went with that. But truthfully if you're concerned about only having a couple days to fish and saying it usually takes a while to figure them out in leeville wouldn't you think it'd take just as long fishing a whole new area? If not longer. Fish what you know and hope you figure them out sooner is my suggestion.

Not sure where the fish are in the spring as we are always there during summer months. But, for what it's worth, we most all of the time catch reds, black drum and sheepshead in the canals just off the landing near the recreation park. Find shells on bank bottom with market shrimp. For specks we go across Catfish lake and hit the ponds going towards Leeville. You may want to have a GPS as it is easy to get turned around. We always do well. Love the place...

Ok guys/gals, my trip is this weekend with my son and snl. Still haven't heard any good reports about catfish lake. If anyone wants to throw an idea or 2 my way the help would be much appreciated. Looking for some trout in catfish lake area. Or have they moved too far south and started heading to the outside islands? Thanks in advance. I'll post report about results.
