I was lucky enough to get in Zack Gagnard's boat of Elite Guide Service on Toledo Bend this past Saturday. To my surprise we located offshore schools of post spawn fish. We had a blast and they were hungry! We fished main lake ridges and humps targeting fish along the drops in 15-20ft of water. They were stacked and closely grouped together. We caught our fish using Carolina Rigs, with the PooDoo Craw and Custom 10' lizard (a special lure mold we have for custom orders) in Green Pumpkin colors. Dipping the tails in chartreuse helped trigger more bites as well. Sexy Shad 8XD cranks also helped pick up some big fish in the schools. It seemed the shad were moving up to spawn being that there were a lot of bait balls around and hadn't seen them yet this year. The bass were always right underneath the shad balls. Earlier in the day I caught a few fish punching the matted hay grass with the Bayou Bug in Brown/Purple Flake color. Overall it was a great day of catching and putting the Cajun Lures to work, I highly recommend giving Zack a call for an awesome Toledo Big Bass catching trip.
