Grand Isle fishing in April full moon

Reply
Will fishing the full moon in April or May be productive with plastic baits and a cork around the State Park or will I need to get and keep live shrimp or market shrimp? Also will the water be too cold and I will need a chest wader? If I bring my boat, will the odds be better with better access to the rocks there. Will Elmers Island be accessible by boat and an anchor or will the tides be too strong to fish in a boat? Thanks for any comments.....

Will fishing the full moon in April or May be productive: Starts getting good end of april beginning of may

with plastic baits and a cork around the State Park or will I need to get and keep live shrimp or market shrimp?
live shrimp almost always beats plastics on the beach. But that early in the summer plastics will work also

Also will the water be too cold and I will need a chest wader? Water will be about 75ish? You should be fine in the beginning of may

If I bring my boat, will the odds be better with better access to the rocks there? Winds are sometimes brutal in april so it may be rough out front, with a boat you can get behind some islands on the backside of the island near oyster reefs

Will Elmers Island be accessible by boat and an anchor or will the tides be too strong to fish in a boat? only concern here would be rough/dirty water. If you catch it on a calm day you will be fine

Fished Thursday Northeast of island and caught 21 and1/2 17 inch trout. A shark caught the first fish at the boat and too 2/3 of the trout. No throwbacks on matrix plastics. And the water temp was 75 degrees Gonzales. Thanks again

I second the comment on plastics... This weekend was insane for trout fishing in the surf. I would also say that the trout was not picky at all as they blew up on anything and everything I threw at the.

If the surf is fishable, that is the place to be. Look for those small channels running parelel to the beach and you will find those larger trout. On the outside of the channel you will also find some nice trout, but will be a little bit smaller (14' to 18'). the majoritiy of the trout I caught in the small channel was all over 18' and the largest coming in at 25'.

based on the predications, matrix creole should be the best color to use, which I did and was what I caught the majority of my fish on. I also used mirror lures, both surf and suspending, lil john (caught the largest trout on this one), and she dogs.
