Reply
Any information or advice or tips anyone can give on crawfishing at South Farms in Sherburne! Thinking of taking my two boys and have never been there. Thanks!

You should be able to catch enough crawfish to eat. Kinda of a long walk, bring a 4-wheeler if you have one and or pull a wagon.

A four-wheeler is a must have to crawfish there. Got to get there early if ya going on the weekend to claim a spot and beat the heat.

504225BOY...Those are nice! Did you catch those at South Farms? And yes. I will be going Saturday. Would arriving around 6:30 be early enough?

Yes I caught them at South Farm. I usually get to the parking lot before the sun comes up and I am heading out around 11-12 with 2 or 3 sacks. I use deep water (taller and wider ) set nets that I make myself. Some people have issues with the store bought nets because the outside edges of the ponds have a deep ditch that runs around them. The red pin is the parking lot and the purple pin is the pond that most people crawfish in. Hope this helps. If you have anymore questions just ask.

This is great. Thanks! Will I be okay with the store bought traps as long as I have waders or hip boots to cross the ditch? I may also have a couple of pillow traps to set out for all morning.

Also, is beef melt pretty much my best option for bait? Sorry for all the questions. Just want to be prepared and show a good time to my boys!

Beef melt is the only bait I use. Some areas/ponds are deeper than others. You just have to figure out where you can fish and where you cant with your nets. You have to have a fishing license and a crawfish gear license to use pillows traps and you can only use 35. The pillow traps have to be tagged with name and license number. I attached a pic of the nets I build. You just have to make a few trips to learn the area. Good luck
