Had a decent day on the water with a buddy Captain Mike Andolsek. Had a good box ox mangroves, state water snapper, dolphin, amberjack, and a 155lb Warsaw to top it off.
@ktm ha man I have a lot of experience offshore fishing it's all pretty simple once you get it down. What kind of boat are you running? Ever need a mate, I'll get you my contact info.
Btw- snapper is closed for federal waters right now these were caught in state waters.
If you haven't figured it out already those snapper were Not caught in state waters. He caught them out in federal waters and brought them back across the line. Check out the air bladder popping out on the snapper, ask any real fisherman why that happens.
I fish out of Venice, many spots within the 9 miles to catch snapper like this! I believe the fine is 150/fish (snapper) in federal water and there have been reports of Federal Agents using dogs to check 'hiding spots' When you can catch fish like this or close to this in state water why risk it.
Nice Warsaw grouper. That a great trip wise I can do that well when I go offshore. We usually go out of Empire and catch red snapper and mangrove. Don't really have to far but there not big snapper. I need to start lunching out of venice seem like you catch more variety out of Venice. Keep up the posted man. Who cares where you catch them redsnapper. They are everywhere cant seem to get your bait down with out them messing with it. If we recreation fishing not catching them the commercial guy will. Tight lines man
