I am looking to spool a spin cast with braid to throw poppers offshore. I am not sure what brand to use or what pound test. Any recommendations?

You can use 50pound as a tow rope and it will cast great with a that lure. One trick I like is to use your leader less than the braid then if you catch a snag you only lose the leader. I am not into fighting big reds etc and all I do is clamp down and lose a leader an a hook when I fish live bait.

I'm assuming you are talking about poppers for tuna, mahi, etc. if so, i use 100# power pro. The poppers I use are heavy enough where you can still cast a mile. One tip is to put it on a very good spinning reel with a lot of line capacity. I recently had a tuna lock up the drag on my Fin-Nor spinning reel. Bye bye $30.00 popper.
