Gray Deck Boat Option

Reply

I am ordering a NauticStar 244 XTS and one of the options is 'gray deck'. I am getting the full hull (outside) color in black. Nautic Star offers the interior color in standard white (like 95% of the boats out there) or the interior color can be upgraded to gray. Does anybody know the advantages of having a gray deck? I was told that the gray will reflect less light and the glare off the interior of the boat isn't as bad in full sunlight and it 'may possibly' look better as it ages as opposed to the standard dulling white finish. Any input would be appreciated.

I agree with all that you pointed out. Less glare and probably won't dull as much. I also think it won't show as much blood and stains. I know my white decks were a pain to keep clean. How much is the upgrade to gray? Your gonna enjoy the nautical star. I've rode in a few, very well done.

Not sure about how quickly an interior will dull other than use of harsh cleaners to clean and the amount of use but I would say both would dull at the same rate based on the above statement. I had a white interior in my previous boat and now have the grey/silver interior now. Will tell you this the white interior was a Cajun microwave when the sun started pounding on it and it was bright. Now with the grey interior do not get that and it looks just as good as the white. I don't think you would be disappointed with the grey interior. Plus with the black hull it will look great.

The gray deck option is another $1,100.00
The full outside hull will be black and I'm also getting the leaning post and console head rail powder coated black. I am getting the console upgraded to the head console so the wife and kids can do their business in peace. I wasn't too crazy about not having the rod holders so I'm just going to install a 3 rod PVC wall mount rod holder on each side of the console. I'm not getting the matching fiberglass T-top right away because of the bridges... I need to get under in Hackberry but will probably get it when I relocate (every few years for work) and the head console is required for that too. The add ons and custom things I'm getting are starting to add up and I'm just trying to figure out if the grey deck is worth the extra money. I had a white interior on my last boat. Looked good when it was clean but tough to keep looking clean.
