Where exactly are you currently focusing your efforts and what type of bait are you using? Are you looking for trout, reds, or anything to pull on the line except catfish?

Hey thanks capt rob. Umm i have fished the southern end of lake decade and haven't caught much. And I have fished lo duece. I only use a shrimp. I'm not sure about saltwater baits. I was raised fresh after fishing.

The catfish always seem to bite all over.

If trout is the targeted species then you are waaaaay to far north at this time of year. The area you are fishing would be considered the upper estuary. This upper estuary will hold trout in the late fall and winter months(generally speaking). Late spring and summer the trout are out in or near the gulf. As the days get shorter the trout begin to filter back into the inshore lakes. Soo, April-September think coon point, enstar, Mardi Gras rigs etc, sept-November-ish look in the sister lake lake mechant area, November-March lake decade low deuce upper estuary type places. Leave that market shrimp at home unless your after reds and drum. Dularge trout readily take artificial lures. All you need are some lead heads(1/8 and 1/4 oz) and some soft plastic tails like matrix or h&h etc. try one rig with a popping cork and one with a double or single rig so you can probe the water column i.e. Fish the bottom middle and top to see what the fish prefer. For reds get back in the duck ponds and throw gold spoons or spinner baits or that nasty bait shrimp you take with you every time you go fishing.

Hey thanks for the quick tips. I am going to try that this weekend. And see what I can come up with. I guess I am fishing all sorts of backwards then. Might be why no boats are around. Haha
