Bayou Teche Bass and Bream!

Reply
The Bayou Teche near Franklin, LA is one of the most underrated bass fishing spots around South Louisiana. The bayou is home to many freshwater species such as: Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Redear, Blue and Channel Catfish, Goggleye, Choupique, Garfish, White Bass, and Sacalait. The awesome part is that they can be easy to catch!
I (Jed Mire) have been fishing the bayou since I could barely walk, and whether I fished off the bank or in a boat, I always managed to land a lot of fish! I am a hardcore bass and bream fisherman, which is great because I can be on the fish in less than 10 minutes of putting down the boat!
The summer of 2015 is win I can say that I became obsessed with bass fishing. One of my buddies and I were out at day break and fished until dusk just about every day, and man did we slay them!! The main reason for my obsession was that we were catching them with top water frogs, and when that failed we pulled out our flipping and pitching sticks.
The main areas that we fish (for bass) are docks and grass beds as well as the Oaklawn Bridge and cypress trees around the Irish Bend Road area. Our baits of choice are the top water frog, the Culprit 7.5 inch worm in darker colors (black and blue, tequila shad, red shad), Zoom Lizard in junebug color, and the Zoom Baby Brush Hog in Cotton Candy or Junebug.
As far as Bream fishing goes…well, that’s easy! All you have to do is pick up some night crawlers or tubes, some small jig heads, and the smallest bobbers you can find. Put down your boat and run until you find either rocks or cypress trees in the water, and just like that your afternoon is filled with catching tons of nice bream. This is a great way to get people introduced to fishing and will hook them for life!
As for access to the bayou, there are a few launches in the Franklin area. The first is in Baldwin, the second at the cemetery in Franklin, and lastly is the launch near the Franklin Courthouse.
The Bayou Teche near Franklin at times can be one of the best fishing areas around, so go out and catch you a mess of fish!

Great report guys. Don't give away all your spots. You may find they get fished very heavy after giving out exact spots. Great post anyway and good luck.
