Norco

Has anyone done much out of Norco in the past couple years? Made one trip last year and heard a good bit of shooting but none from us. Used to smash the teal in mere minutes back in 2011. Just trying to avoid fighting Wax or further places from Baton Rouge for only a few teal.

Re: Norco
I used to duck hunt all the time in Norco. I tried going taking a ride earlier this year and a gate was put up blocking the lake side of the spillway from the airline bridge. If you are trying to avoid a long drive and boat ride to the wax I would suggest trying the prairie in Manchac. I am from the area and don't mind answering questions or helping if you need anything else.

Re: Norco
So norco is completely inaccessible now? I was able to hunt there last year so I wonder why. Our next choice was the prairie like you mentioned but not being able to use my motor may get old

Re: Norco
If you are talking the spillway , there is a gate on the road north of airline been there a few years . You can go around the back and come up goat road canal or walk from airline or do like the deer hunters and ride a 4 wheeler . If you talking east of the spillway people hunt there but it is all private and a lot leased. Take your chances......

Re: Norco
The spillway would still be accessible by boat boat. Both the boat launches are still open as far as i know you just wouldn't be able to drive to the back with a truck.

The first part of the prairie you get to when you get out of the cut is not limited access but you would need to be one of the first people there. As far as the limited access side, i hunted there and watched the game wardens running around blind to blind checking people in a surface drive .
