Salvador/Timken WMA Limited Access Area eliminated

Reply
In a recent report about the stumps beyond the bulkheads in western Lake Cataouatche, that area into the Tank Ponds was declared a Limited Access Area. The LAA has been in existence for the past 7 years. Fishing intitution was right when the LAA existed. Trolling motor only, & your outboard motor had to be trimmed out of the water. One of the changes the LWF made for hunting & fishing this area was the elimination of the LAA for 2016-17. Is this great news, only time will tell & check the LWF pamphlet 2016-17, page 3, # 8. It reads as follows; Elimination of a Limited Access Area on Salvador/Timken WMA. One of the major changes for 2016-2017 Hunting Regulations.

Thanks for clarifying the change, did not know it was eliminated. Hate to see someone get a ticket. I personally didn't mind the LAA. Kept the pressure down, and the fish weren't as skittish without boats blazing in and out all day. It is rebounding, a trend I hope continues in this special area. See boats running behind the bulkhead all the time,if they only knew what lies beneath, more than just stumps. Put a lump in my throat every time I witness it.
