My name is Jacob Granger. I've been bow hunting ever since the season opened trying to get that first bow kill in behind my dads on our property on a big oak ridge. Needless to say I didn't know what was in store for me on Sunday morning Oct 30th. We are located in Calcasieu Parish in Vinton, La Area 8. It was a foggy morning too early to see. I had about a five minute four wheeler ride, about a forty five minute ride in a pirogue and another ten minute walk. I was walking up to my stand and heard something running off through the swamp and I knew for sure that was my big buck running away. I decided to get up in my stand anyways. While I'm sitting there I'm going through my pics off of my Moultrie camera from the day before and happen to see four coyotes (I havent seen coyotes all year) so I began to get more discouraged so I just put my pictures away and sat there. Its just starting to get daylight about 7:15 a.m and all of a sudden I hear something in the brush and the first thing I thought was squirrel so I just kept staring in the direction of the noise and finally I see him walk out horns and all. I grabbed my mathews helim and just waited, he walked in right at about twenty yards and I pulled back for which felt about five minutes but was really only about 15 seconds. He presented the shot and I took it. He dropped and all the suspense I felt was unreal I felt like my heart was beating out of my chest. One of the best experiences of my life.
