This nice 8 point was caught slipping around Saturday evening at 4:45 pm. I shot him at 230 yards with the old trusted Browning 7mag the gun cracked and the deer fell and jumped back up and I shot him again and he fell and got back up. The long cut on his front shoulder he was quatering away on the first shot and I hit him with a Federal Premium 150 grain BTSP and it glanced off of his shoulder blade and ripped his shoulder. The second shot took both front legs out and he ran off on his back legs tracked him about 40 yards and found him hiding in a swampy bottom he would put his whole head under the water so I raised the gun and waited either for him to drown or raise his head and when he did I shot him in the neck. No blood or hair was found from either of the first 2 shots I was just confident that I had placed them where they needed to go. I have killed numerous deer with this gun and have never shot one high in the shoulder near the back bone like that and had them get back up. Anyways looking forward to the next hunt in Hancock County Mississippi. 15 3/4" inside spread 162 lbs.
