Sherburne Youth Turkey Hunt

Does anyone know if any turkeys were killed for the Youth Turkey this past Saturday at Sherburne?

Zero birds were killed

My buddy was visiting with one of the biologists from there the other day, he said that the numbers are down in the basin and state. They may try change our turkey seasons statewide. I think that they should use the Mississippi state model, six inch beard or better etc. The flooding that we had over recent years has not helped.

Unfortunately,Sherburne WMA has not fully recovered from severe flooding,not sure which years,but I lilewise have talked to folks in the know as far as turkey biology and mortality and it may take quite a few more years for Sherburne to recover.I was planning on hunting the Monday(non-lottery)after Easter and might opt to stay put vs taking the long drive plus the effort to get way back in those woods,only to see not a turkey.I did roost one last year and it may be worth the drive from Mandeville,just not 100% sure and I do have a Causeway trolling trip planned for the next day!!
