I too have seen these reef balls staged near Bridgeside marina. Where are they going? Haven't heard of this reef project.

Here is the scoop. The reef balls are being deployed as we speak. Just talked to Buggy at Bridgeside Marina and the reef balls are going to be going out behind the islands that are just north of Grand Isle. Does anyone know the name of the island? These are the same islands that the oyster reefs with the hanging baskets are on, just on the other side of 'the crack'. The reef balls will be used to trap sediment to hopefully save the island. One look at the structure and you know what the other function will be - a super fish attractor! Glad to see they are taking steps to save these islands. Anyone that has been to Grand Isle over the years has seen the steady disappearance of perhaps the easiest fishing island around. Should be awesome.

island was called fifi and was connected to goat island due to it having a herd of goats on it at one time

Did LWF ever publish coordinates of these reef balls? How long does it take till they become a part of the 'ecosystem' (bait fish there yet?!)?

They are all around the island just inside of the bridge. There is more than just bait fish there!

FiFi island is the big island right out from sand dollar marina on the east end of the island. If it is behind the island that is straight out from the point where Cheramies and the Ice house used to be ,it really has no name, as that was part of the Chanier caminada at one time
