When Eugene Hoover, Louisiana high school BASS director, took on the leadership of hoisting high school bass fishing tournaments in Louisiana he had no idea it would take off so fast. 'This morning, we launched 100 high school teams and about 30 Jr teams on Lake Verret and the Atchafalaya Basin in Pierre Part. 6 years ago, we were lucky to have 20 boats. Now we have a tournament trail to qualify for the Louisiana state tournament. We averaged 130 boats on our tournament trail this year. Our goal is to be the largest high school fishing state. Only Alabama is ahead of us. Today we will crown a new 2017 BASS Nation High School champion. From this tournament Louisiana teams will qualify for the national bass tournament.' Eugene Hoover commented.
