Question About Center Console Boats

Hey new member here with some questions.

My wife and I are looking to buy boat. We really like the Center Console offshore boats but I'm not so sure if it's the right boat for our needs.

We go to Gulf Shores about 1-2 times a year, and we think it would be very fun to have a ~20-22ft CC to take out with perhaps a few family members as guests. I'm sure our activities would mostly be leisure, fishing and general recreation. I don't think I would want to go more than ~10-15 miles outward from the shore at first, since I would want to build confidence, knowledge and experience.

I am worried though about what else I could do locally with such as boat. Using it 1-2 times a year is obviously a huge waste of money and I would definitely not buy one if that is all the use I could get from it. I'm guessing Biloxi and the oil rigs could be other places I could frequent since the drive isn't too far.

Are these types of boats good for lakes? I'm mainly worried about the draft, I'm assuming places like False River would be an acceptable spot to bring a 20-22 ft CC.. Are there any other locations you guys could recommend within a 1-2.5 hour drive from Baton Rouge?

Thanks

The Key West was for personal use before I decided to become a charter fisherman. I have a 24' bluewave and don't have any use for the Key West.

If you are looking to go offshore 1 or 2 times a year Charter fishing is a good option. I have a 24' BayChamp. I spend some time offshore with it . I also fish inshore around Grand Isle, I also perch jerk out of it . So I pick my days wisely when I head offshore I have been 30 to 40 miles out but it was one of those exceptional days . not sure what you want to target but if its snapper 10 miles is a good range . I also run the rivers like the Tickfaw and Amite and Lake Poncatrain. so I would recommend atleast a 24' bayboat or a deep v hull.
