Isle de Jean Charles - Fishing with Small 12' boat.

Going Fishing on Monday near Isle de Jean Charles. Thinking of Launching at the Marina. I have a small 12' boat with a 7.5 outboard. Never been fishing here. Anyone know of a good spot?

I have been wanting to go inshore fishing for a while. I live in BR so if there is a better spot closer for my size boat I am open. I chose Isle de Jean Charles because I heard it was good for Kayak fishing.

go south out of the marina, follow canal south and find oyster reefs, cant go wrong, dead shrimp under a cork is all u need, be sure to be very careful when getting off the main canals water can get shallow quick.

The end of the road Marina will be packed. Another option, after you pass the Game Wardens Camp, several miles turn right on the island road and the launch is on your right for the WMA area with 25 hp rules and its 'Free'. Head out south to redfish around the islands with shrimp under a cork. Protected and plenty fun with no large boat hassles. Crabs are running also. Have a great 4th weekend.

Check to be sure the Island road boat launch is open. It was closed for the high water and I'm not sure if they reopened it yet. As of June 28th it was still closed.
