Based off of my trail cam findings this summer so far it appears that the fawn is about 2-3 days old which puts it’s birthdate around 7/2, and the big doe best guess dropped her fawn(s) around 7/6. With an approximate 200 day gestation period puts these Does getting bred around December 14th thru 17th.
The LDWF issues their Louisiana estimated deer breeding periods map which shows northern Catahoula Parish is December 5th thru the 18th. This is dead on the mark!
I will continue to evaluate my findings to see if other fawns fall in the same time frame. Keep in mind this is only a very small fraction of data but still pretty neat to understand. By keeping good records from year to year will help strengthen your finding on when the rut really occurs in your area.
