Bad Weather Fishing

Reply
I have a camp rented this coming weekend in Grand Isle and it looks like rain and rough weather. I am taking the kids and would like to catch something. Has anyone done any good in these types of weather conditions? Or should I re-schedule during better weather?

If you could reschedule, I would go when you have decent weather. You definitely do not want to go if there is thunder and lightning. I was going to the Basin this weekend, but canceled because of stormy weather. I'll go next week. Best to be safe than sorry.

For the kids sake I would reschedule. Depending on the age. However, some of my best fishing days were during a minor storm. (No lightning tho). Waves picked up and tossed us around but the trout starting hitting hard. I'm ex military so I tend to do dumb things and get into tight spots. So if your questioning safety and your going on a boat reschedule. If your questioning fish activity you should be fine. Idk bout bank fishing tho

This trip was in the planning for the past three years and this year both son-in-laws are not working offshore and/or in Africa. My Fiancee, her daughter, my two daughters, two son-in-laws AND four grandsons and one step granddaughter (grand kids...ages 6-22 yoa)! AND OF COURSE...two boats! JOHN C.

Weather sucks a lot of the time especially in luziana. Keep a steady eye on radar and pick your windows as small as they may be. Maybe limit to surf fishing so you can flange up quickly if need to. Make the best of it. Good luck....
