Spillway is a good place to hunt, but like any place, you must put time scouting. I like the Northwest area, and don't be afraid to hunt the more wet areas, even areas where you need waders, as these big bucks don't mind it at all and it's a safe spot for them.
Maurepas is great, but you'll have a lot of fun pulling a deer out for a quarter mile! Also, Joyce WMA is good, but about the toughest place on earth to hunt. Not talking about the area right off of North Pass, but north of Owl Bayou where you'll basically stay in your pirogue until you get in the tree. Cannot walk it, you'll be over your waders in a second. Learned the hard way when I was young, I've pulled myself out of many holes by clinging to branches of trees, and it's friggin' scary. You wanna kill a deer in Joyce, find a fresh rub and hunt it 3-4 days in a row.
Good Luck!
