Looking for good kayak fishing spots on Northshore

I just bought a kayak for fishing, looking for some good fishing spots to launch from on the Northshore. Just moved to the Pearl River area last year, so I've fished Cane Bayou once and today Bayou Lacombe off of Main Street. I'm not having any luck. I'm a little frustrated, bc I've not fished this time of year before, or the area. So, I'm having way more error in my trial in error. I got advice from the local bait shop, and they suggested a spinner bait which I fished today, tried a few different things, well actually almost my whole tackle box. I have always had good luck with lizards for bass, tried that too, no luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Planning on heading out somewhere again this weekend.

The northshore is really hit and miss when it comes to salt/brackish water fishing. The various interstate ponds usually hold some pretty nice bass. Keep at it... since kayak fishing is a whole different game. Once you get the hang of it you will be hooked. Then for more action head over to Shell Beach, Delacroix, PAC or down Hwy 1.

For what it is worth,I am a fanatical soft-plastic fisherman,be it bass,reds,specks,flounders,etc and ya can't go wrong with black/blue worms with either pegged bullet weights,rigged Texas-style or get pre-pegged weights and hooks,think Sportsmans warehouse is probably where I got pre-pegged worm hooks or possibly Bass Pro.Bayou Lacombe has a bunch of bass and I typically launch at Main Street with my Chapman pirogue and head North,tossing to the basses of the cypress trees and also tossing to the boat docks(hang on as I have hooked and lost quite a few bass probably some over 3 lbs)not too far from the Main Street launch.Watch some You-Tube bass videos to somewhat get the gist of what the bass seem to prefer and get yourself a nice baitcaster as that is perhaps one of your best weapons for finesse fishing,essential for success in soft plastic bassing!!Worm fishing works year-round!!

don't believe so. although, I usually launch at the park at the end of the road, where it's free. not sure if i'm supposed to, but have done it several times now and nobody has ever said anything. also have seen several others launch there. a little rough on the yak though as it's very rocky.

campo's is free for kayaks (or, in my case, a canoe) - if you buy some shrimp from him :)

the fishing around there is usually very good - i've always come home with a cooler full of trout, red, bass, or a mix, and have never had to go more than 2 miles or so from the launch.

you can launch from Cold Spring Harbor (Billy Joel Park) or any of Huntingtons's town beaches (just need a parking pass). There is good fishing throughout the Harbor. Schoolies and blues can be trolled throughout the harbor

I have done it several times now and nobody has ever said anything. also have seen several others launch there. a little rough on the yak though as it's very rocky.

I have seen many of John Skinner's kayak videos of him out east, but it seems like he is actually in the Sound, not in harbors. And the only launches I have found are in the way back of the harbors where all the boats are moored with the exception of Centerport Beach. Can you fish these harbors like in between the boats?
