South Farm

What's the deal with crawfishing at South Farm? Last post I remember was that it was closed. That was a few weeks or month or so ago. Is it open and how's the water level? Anybody been and catching any crawfish? The boys are done with school next week and was thinking of taking them. Thanks for any help!

It reopened on April 30th , me and a buddy from work went on May 4th. Big crawfish were dead everywhere. They were crawling out the water onto the levees almost like the water had low oxygen levels. We ended up catching a sack each but it was a struggle. One net would be full then the next few would have one or two. The crawfish we caught were nice medium to large but like I said we struggled. I went right after they reopen and caught two sacks with 14 nets in about 3 hours and that includes my walk out there. Around the weekend of may 4 like 504225BOY said there was lots of dead crawfish near the edge of the ponds. in other ponds looks like the O2 was low and they where trying to get out or climb up to breath. Caught a half sack in 2 hours and gave up. Dead fish in some of the ponds and water was warm. I am not going back this year.

Been out lately? I know the season is coming to a close, but figured maybe with the recent rains, it's helped with some fresh water/oxygen for the mudbugs.

Nope called it quits after the last outing. I figured it would only go downhill after what I saw last time.
